隨著中國社會經(jīng)濟的飛速發(fā)展，中國會展業(yè)以年均近20％_的速度遞增。作為一種新的經(jīng)濟現(xiàn)象和經(jīng)濟發(fā)展增長點，“會展經(jīng)濟”已經(jīng)引起了社會的廣泛重視。在中國，會展經(jīng)濟屬于朝陽產(chǎn)業(yè)，但孕育著巨大的生機和潛力。會展業(yè)對人才的需求日益增長，對從業(yè)人員的要求也逐漸提高，不僅要求從業(yè)人員具備貿(mào)易、管理、法律法規(guī)等方面的知識和解決問題的能力，還要求他們具備較強的語言能力，包括外語的運用和溝通能力。
根據(jù)中國會展業(yè)的發(fā)展現(xiàn)狀和趨勢以及會展業(yè)對人才的需求現(xiàn)狀和趨勢，我們編寫了這本《會展英語》。本教材的特點是：
1.脈絡(luò)清晰，職業(yè)指向性明確。本教材的編寫，從情景對話人手，培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的英語聽說實際應(yīng)用能力。按會展行業(yè)工作流程的順序來設(shè)計編排內(nèi)容，涵蓋了會展業(yè)服務(wù)和管理的主要內(nèi)容。避免過于強調(diào)閱讀、詞匯、語法和翻譯的學(xué)習(xí)，而是將職業(yè)技能的訓(xùn)練貫穿于英語學(xué)習(xí)中，使學(xué)習(xí)者感到明確的職業(yè)指向性。
2.專業(yè)性和實用性強。在每個單元的導(dǎo)人部分，引入會展業(yè)相關(guān)服務(wù)和管理的關(guān)鍵工作術(shù)語和要領(lǐng)；在案例對話學(xué)習(xí)中，設(shè)置具體的會話情景，并在內(nèi)容上融入對相關(guān)工作經(jīng)驗的交流和總結(jié)，使教學(xué)與會展工作實踐對接，通過對話內(nèi)容，幫助學(xué)生掌握英語會話技巧，并學(xué)習(xí)相關(guān)會展工作經(jīng)驗和技能；課文的選擇是以特殊英語（ESP）為原則，將學(xué)生即將從事的專業(yè)與語言學(xué)習(xí)相結(jié)合，通過使用英語來掌握會展專業(yè)的基本技能，特別注重選材的專業(yè)性、實用性和新穎性。
3.使用對象廣泛。本教材不僅可以作為中高等職業(yè)院校會展專業(yè)學(xué)生的教材，還可以作為有志從事會展工作的專業(yè)人士、管理人員、翻譯人員的參考資料。
