本書是專門針對研究生階段英語教學(xué)的綜合型聽力教材。共設(shè)20個單元，2個小測驗和1個期末測試。20個單元主題分別涉及：語言、民族、環(huán)保、婚姻家庭、藝術(shù)、西方文化、法律、農(nóng)林、通訊交通、計算機和網(wǎng)絡(luò)、旅游、經(jīng)濟、文學(xué)、中國傳統(tǒng)文化、社會問題、醫(yī)學(xué)健康、東盟、哲學(xué)、體育和教育。每個單元由5至6個部分組成，單元內(nèi)容主要包括：1個專題知識學(xué)習(xí)板塊（Preview），兩個課堂訓(xùn)練板塊（Section
A，B），兩個課外自習(xí)板塊（Section C，D），1個口語交際策略講練和1個課外娛樂環(huán)節(jié)。
本教材可供不同專業(yè)的研究生英語聽說教學(xué)使用，也可作為英語專業(yè)本科年級聽力課程的輔導(dǎo)教材，同時適合具有較為扎實的英語基礎(chǔ)的外語愛好者或語言研究者參考使用。
