本教材的聽(tīng)力內(nèi)容，上冊(cè)包括：住房、求職、語(yǔ)言學(xué)習(xí)、校園生活、娛樂(lè)、保健、電視的發(fā)明、有線電報(bào)和無(wú)線電報(bào)、環(huán)保、交通工具等；下冊(cè)包括：醫(yī)學(xué)發(fā)明、情感交流的重要性、育兒、自然與人造災(zāi)難、職業(yè)、著名景點(diǎn)介紹、經(jīng)濟(jì)投資、印象派藝術(shù)及其畫(huà)家介紹等。所選材料大多來(lái)自純正的語(yǔ)音資料。在內(nèi)容上突破了我國(guó)傳統(tǒng)的為訓(xùn)練聽(tīng)力而去聽(tīng)的思路。
本教材每單元有三個(gè)部分。第一部分為熱身，一般選擇較為簡(jiǎn)單的對(duì)話和段落，語(yǔ)速相對(duì)較慢，目的是讓學(xué)習(xí)者有充分的時(shí)間進(jìn)入狀態(tài)。第二、三部分為重點(diǎn)內(nèi)容，通常選擇較為復(fù)雜、難度較高的段落，語(yǔ)速相對(duì)較快，目的是讓學(xué)習(xí)者在進(jìn)入狀態(tài)后能通過(guò)較快速的聽(tīng)力訓(xùn)練，充分發(fā)揮主觀能動(dòng)作用，在學(xué)習(xí)科學(xué)知識(shí)的同時(shí)，提高聽(tīng)力，使聽(tīng)力學(xué)習(xí)真正成為一種享受而非累贅。
