　　依據(jù)2000年5月教育部批準(zhǔn)實(shí)施的《高等學(xué)校英語(yǔ)專業(yè)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)大綱》的要求，英語(yǔ)論文寫作是全國(guó)各類高校英語(yǔ)專業(yè)的一門專業(yè)知識(shí)類必修課程.《高等學(xué)校英語(yǔ)專業(yè)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)大綱》還明確規(guī)定：畢業(yè)論文一般應(yīng)用英語(yǔ)撰寫，篇幅為3000-5000個(gè)單詞，要求文字通順、思路清晰、內(nèi)容充實(shí)，有一定的獨(dú)立見(jiàn)解。
　　本書是一本按照《高等學(xué)校英語(yǔ)專業(yè)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)大綱》要求編寫的英語(yǔ)專業(yè)必修課教材，它具有很強(qiáng)的實(shí)用性和針對(duì)性。為了更有效地指導(dǎo)學(xué)生進(jìn)行畢業(yè)論文寫作，該書以大量的例子闡述了如何完成從選題、查閱文獻(xiàn)、撰寫到答辯的全過(guò)程。全書共分8章：第工章概述了英語(yǔ)論文寫作的意義和要求；第2章討論了論文寫作的步驟和過(guò)程；第3章詮釋了構(gòu)成論文的各個(gè)要素及其特點(diǎn)；第4章介紹了國(guó)際上通行的三種學(xué)術(shù)寫作格式；第5章從詞法、句法和篇章三個(gè)角度分析了英語(yǔ)論文的語(yǔ)言特點(diǎn)；第6章介紹了幾種常見(jiàn)的英語(yǔ)語(yǔ)言研究方法；第7章簡(jiǎn)述了論文答辯的相關(guān)知識(shí)；第8章提供了一個(gè)完整的論文案例進(jìn)行評(píng)價(jià)和分析。另外，在附錄里還列舉了供師生參考的英語(yǔ)專業(yè)畢業(yè)論文選題、成績(jī)?cè)u(píng)定標(biāo)準(zhǔn)和排版裝訂格式。
